Development of Nicotinic Acid

In this article the mechanism, synthesis process, application and development of the synthetic technology of nicotinic acid are introduced. Nicotinic acid can be widely applied in fields of food, feed, and medical treatment, etc. Its synthesis methods include agent oxidation, ammonia oxidation, air oxidation, electrochemical oxidation, biological oxidation, and pyridine hydrox-ylation. The recent development of nicotinic acid in China is reviewed and the study in future is prospected.
