Present Status of Physical Education Teachers’Competency in Middle Schools of Linyi City and Research on Countermeasures

Methods of consulting documentary data, questionnaire, visit and investigation as well as mathematical statistics were applied in the study. Questionnaires were made to 263 in active service PE teachers in middle schools of 3 districts and 9 counties of Linyi City. The schoolmasters, the leaders of the teaching and research sections of physical education in part of the schools and the PE teachers in county/district teaching and research groups were visited. The present status of PE teachers’competency in middle schools of Linyi city was analyzed and summarized objectively. On this basis, the basic countermeasures and suggestions of that in the new situation the in service training should be given to the PE middle school teachers at their posts and pre service training should be given to the would be PE teachers of middle schools were put forward, respectively. Thus, the theoretical basis and practical support have been provided for establishing the network and the system of perfecting the training of PE middle school teachers under the new situation.
