The relationship between the Y chromosome positive and the risk of developing persistent gestational trophoblastic disease of hydatidiform mole

Objective To study the relationship between the Y chromosome positive and the risk of developing persistent gestational trophoblastic disease(PTD)of hydatidiform mole.Methods The Y specific DNA sequence in Ⅲ satellite of Y long arm was detected by using PCR technique in 82 cases of hydatidiform mole consisting of 50 fresh and 32 paraffin sample.Results There were 14 PTD in 82 cases of hydatidiform mole (17.1%).Y positive were 19(23.2%)in which 3 cases developed PTD (15.8%);Y negative were 63,11 developed PTD(17.5%) among them.Conclusions There is no relationship between PTD and Y positive or negative ( P 0.05).
