Objective To summarize the application of a new kind of drainage tube (Subdural Catheter) for patients with chronic subdural hematoma(CSDH). Methods Fifty-four consecutive CSDH patients were randomized into two groups. Traditional drainage tube and Sudural Catheter were used respectively during operation. The patients’ clinical data and surgical outcome were followed by 6 months (average). Results All patients in both groups received good outcome. It showed that post-operative complications and rehabilitation time were decreased significantly in Subdural Catheter group. Conclusions Application of Subdural Catheter can decrease operative complication and improve post-operative rehabilitation. So it can be selectively used in certain cases.
