The investigation of blood pressure, blood glucose and blood lipid levels among the south-west Beijing

Objective To investigate the incidence of abnormal blood glucose, blood lipids, blood pressure in urban population of south-west area of Beijing and explore the relationship between the incidence with the body mass index (BMI). Methods 10 000 persons with stable work and age from 20 to 60 year old were investigated. According to the standard recommended by World Health Organization, 10 000 persons were divided into 3 groups, normal, overweight and obesity. The relationships of BMI and incidence of abnormal blood glucose, blood pressure and lipids were analyzed. Results The incidences of over weights and obesity’s were 28.31%(2831) and 14.36%(1436). In the normal group, the incidences of hypertension, diabetes, and high TG with low HDL were 11.09% , 4.85% , 9.35% respectively. In the overweight group, the incidence of hypertension, diabetes, and high TG with low HDL was 26.32% , 12.33% , 22.18% respectively. In the obesity group, the incidence of hypertension, diabetes, and high TG with low HDL was 40.95% , 16.30%, 31.62% respectively. Conclusions In the urban population of the south-west area of Beijing ,the incidence of obesity and overweight is high. Obesity and overweight are related to the incidence of hypertension, diabetes and high TG with low HDL.
