HAN Huai-wei, ZHAO Hong-ling (Beijing Institute of Technology, Beijiing 100081)
Language and thought are intimately related in the way that language is the means of thought. Owing to the difference of English and Chinese thinking patterns, the Chinese present their ideas in quite different ways from the English. Based on the Chinese Learner English Corpus (CLEC), this essay aims at analyzing the native, positive and even parallel transfer of Chinese thinking patterns on English writing as well as assisting the Chinese English learners to have a general view of. mother language involvement, which is hoped to throw some lights on accomplishing the idiomatic English compositions.
