Thoughts on Language Use Rhetoric in Chinese Language International Education

The ultimate aim of international Chinese language education is to develop students' ability to use the language accurately and appropriately. International students have apparent difficulties in this aspect. Therefore, it is vital to train their language use rhetoric in international Chinese language education. The paper analyses the cause of Chinese language communication barriers for international students in the current international Chinese language education. It addresses four issues: the ambiguous position of language use rhetoric in current international Chinese language education system;the lack of language use rhetoric content in the curriculum; teacher's ignorance of language use rhetoric and student's avoidance strategy.It highlights the need to strengthen Chinese language use and rhetoric teaching. It puts forward the philosophy to strengthen Chinese language use rhetoric teaching in international Chinese language education. It contends upholding the principle that the Chinese language use rhetoric and language elements are carried out simultaneously.
