The Influence of Milling Parameters on the Properties of Al_2O_3-dispersion-strengthened NiCr Powders and Sprayed Coatings

In this study,Al2O3-dispersion-strengthened NiCr spray powders were produced using ball milling process with different milling parameters.Atomization experiment was carried out.Al2O3/NiCr powders were sprayed using a microplasma spraying process.The microstructure and hardness of Al2O3-dispersion-strengthened NiCr powders and resultant coating were analyzed by means of XRD,SEM.It was found that better milling results were achieved using a longer milling time and a higher volume Al2O3.More homogeneous dispersion structures with finer Al2O3 particles were achieved.The homogeneous microstructure could be retained in the coatings after microplasma spraying.The results showed that the microhardness of composite coatings was about 3 times higher than that of NiCr powder.
