Microstructure and Wear Resistance of in-situ Synthesis ZrC Particulate Reinforced Metal Matrix Composite Coating by Argon Arc Cladding

DING Yuan–zhu, ZHAO Guo–gang, WANG Zhen–ting (College of Materials Science and Engineering, Heilongjiang Institute of Science and Technology, Harbin 150027)  
Composite coating reinforced by TiC particle was produced on the surface of Q235 steel by means of a[rgon arc cladding technique with the powder of Ni, Zr and B4C. The microstructure and properties of the coating were investigated and analyzed with the help of scanning electron microscope, X–ray diffraction meter, microhardness tester, friction and wear testing machine. The results indicate that there is a good metallurgical bonding between the composite wating and the substrate.The coating is uniform and almost defect free, it has high hardness which was gradually increased from the bottom to the surface, and has excellent wear resistance under dry sliding wear test condition.
