Progress in Modification of TiO_2 Thin Films

Titanium dioxide thin films,as photo catalysts,possess such advantages as low-cost,nontoxic,fine stability and easily recyclable.Therefore they are quite prospective applications such as pollution abatement.At present,technical challenges still remain in the practical application,including less photo catalysis activity,low efficiency in the solar energy utilization and so on.The progress in modification techniques of TiO_2 thin films was summarized.These techniques include rare metal deposition,transition metal ion and nonmetal doping,surface sensitization and composite semiconductors.The prospect of the modification was also forecasted.
