Effect of Ultrasound on the Wear Resistance of Electrodeposited Ni-Al_2O_3 Composite Coatings

Ni-Al2O3 composite coatings were prepared by ultrasonic-electrodeposition.The micro-structure,macro-residual stress,surface morphology,micro-hardness and wear resistant were investigated by means of X-ray diffraction(XRD),Scanning electron microscopy(SEM),micro-hardness tester and wear machine.The results show that with proper ultrasonic effect,the grain size of metals becomes smaller,the micro-hardness and macro-residual stress of ultrasonic-electrodeposited composite coatings are both higher than that of normal composite coatings.The surface of composite coatings prepared by ultrasonic-electrodeposition becomes compacter and smoother,the agglomeration phenomena of Al2O3 decreases and the distribution of Al2O3 in the coatings is also reformed.The ultrasonic-electrodeposited composite coating possesses the better tribological proterty.
