Study on the High Specific Area Silicon Carbide Used as Catalyst Supports

LIU shui-gang,GAO wei (Department of Material Science and Engineering, University of Petroleum China,Beijing 102249)
Silicon carbide is a very ideal candidate for the catalyst support taking account of its high resistance to thermal shock, high thermal conductivity and chemical inertness. It also shows several advantages when compared to the oxidic catalyst supports. But the specific area of the SiC available is too low to be applicable in a chemical reaction and there is rare domestic study on the preparation of high specific area SiC. We will review the latest development in this field and look ahead of the research.
