Changes of levels of GSH-Px, GSH,and GR in important organs and tissues of adult diabetic rats

Objective To explore the effects of diabetes on anti oxidation levels of key organs and tissues in rats. Methods Twenty four Wistar rats for 90 days were randomly divided into three groups : control group (C), diabetes treated with insulin group (ID) and diabetes group(D). There were 8 rats in each group. The changes of levels of GSH Px, GSH, and GR in rat organs and tissues were detected by colorimetric method. Results Compared with group C, GSH Px levels in heart, kidney, and pancreas in group D were significantly ascended ( P 0 01 or P 0 05); it was ascended in liver, but there wasn′t statistical significance ( P 0 05), and the GSH Px level was not changed in spleen. GSH and GR levels in group D were significantly descended in heart, liver, kidney, spleen, and pancreas compared with group C ( P 0 01 or P 0 05); but they were alleviated after insulin was administered. Conclusion The anti oxidation levels in important organs and tissues of diabetic rats may be improved after insulin therapy.
