Immunohistoch emical study on breast cancer for Laminin
Wu shan,Li Yulin (Depart ment
of Pathology)
In this study,twenty- seven in infiltrating ductal carcinomas of breast
and five be-nign human breasts were immunohistochemically examined for the presence and
intensity of LN.We observed the LN staining intensity in breast carcinomas with or without
metastasis. The re-sults showed that in the benign human breast, a positive LN staining was
present in basementmembrane of the epithclia, showing a linear continuous pattern. In breast
with carcinom a,a pos-itive LN staining was found in the cytoplasm. Intracellular LN positive
staining intensity wasvarious in these 27 cases, In most cases with metastasis,LN positive
staining was strong, withthe staining intensity of++~+++found in7/12 (58.3%).In most cases
without metastasis,L Nstaining was negative or weakly positive, with the staining intensity
of++~+++found in only 3/15(20%).It suggested that there was a relationship between the
endogenous LN in the cancercells and metastasis.Increased synthesis of the endogenous LN
may change the infiltrating activity of cancer cells,
