EFFECTS OF DIETARY PROTEIN SOURCES ON GROWTH AND ACTIVITIES OF DIGESTIVE ENZYMES OF GIANT FRESHWATER PRAWN (Macrobrachium rosenbergii)

The effects of dietary protein sources on the growth and activities of digestive enzymes of giant freshwater prawn (Macrobrachium rosenbergii) are studied. Prawns are fed on five kinds of isocaloric (15.5~18.2 kJ·g -1 ), isonitrogenous diets certaining fish meal are replaced by soybean meal as protein source for 21 days. The replacement levels for soybean meal are w=25%, 50%, 75% and 100 % . The reference diets only containe fish meal as the main protein source. There are no significant differences in Y SGR and activities of digestive enzymes among the five groups of experimental individuals fed on these five kinds of experimental diets ( p 0.05). It is suggested that the replacement of 50 % fish meal by soybean meal in practical dietary formulation is possible.
