Gao Hongyan Zeng Yonghuai Cao Erxin (Department of Chemistry, Beijing Normal University, 100875, Beijing , China)  
In a supporting electrolyte containing KH 2PO 4-Na 2HPO 4 at pH 7.00, a sensitive derivative reduction peak of Rufloxacin hydrochloride is observed by single-sweep oscillopolarography. The peak potential is -1.29 V(vs.SCE). The relationship between the peak current and the concentration of Rufloxacin hydrochloride is linear in the range of 0.1~ 6.0 μmol·L -1 (r=0.999 1). The detection limit is 0.05 μmol·L -1 . The method is applied to the determination of Rufloxacin hydrochloride in the sample of capsule and urine with satisfactory results. The electrochemical behavior of Rufloxacin hydrochloride at Hg electrode is also explored.
