DERTERMINATION OF HEAVY METALS AND SULFUR IN POPLAR LEAVES OF THE MAIN TRAFFIC ROAD AND STUDY ON ATMOSPHERE POLLUTION STATE IN BEIJING

Heavy metals and sulfur pollution along the main traffic road in Beijing rural and suburban area are studied by means of plant monitoring. According to the characteristics of Beijing natural and economical background , many poplar leaves in 21 sites are collected and seven elements: Cu, Zn, Pb, Cd, S, Cr, Ni are detected by ICP. Atmospheric pollution is researched by the results of various space and seasons. The results show that in Beijing ,the content of trace elements is very large along the main traffic roads and over the industrial areas, trade areas and the center of the city. Its relatively small in grass areas. Its less in rural areas. The amount of heavy metal elements in poplar leaves gets accumulated in years. Therefore, poplar leaves can be a monitor for atmospheric pollution
