THE CHANGE TREND OF SOIL MOISTURE IN NORTHERN CHINA AND THE INFLUENCES OF HUMAN BEING ON THEM

Using 1km NOAA/AVHRR Data, the soil moisture of 13 provinces in northern China is monitored, the soil moisture map on 10 cm in July from 1988 to 1999 is obtained, and then its change trend is identified. The soil moisture as a whole has a trend of decrease. To identify the influence degree of human being's activities on this trend, three kinds of soil (no-vegetation soil, natural vegetation soil and agricultural vegetation soil) moisture are calculated. The result shows they all have decrease trend with different rate, but the decrease for agricultural vegetation soil is the greatest and its Coefficient of Variation (CV) is also the greatest. The CV of agricultural vegetation is 7.22%, whereas the CV of no-vegetation soil and natural vegetation soil is 4.58% and 4.60% respectively. It expresses that the natural facts and the human activities all influence the change of soil moisture of northern China.
