FLUORIMETRIC STUDY OF QUERCETIN-HYDROGEN PEROXIDE AND APPLICATION

It is found that quercetin oxidized by hydrogen peroxide emits strong fluorescence in borax buffer. Under the optimum experimental conditions, the linear relationship between the fluorescence intensity and concentration of quercetin is over the range of 2.0×10 -7 -1.0×10 -5 mol·L -1 with a detection limit of 1.9×10 -8 mol·L -1. The relative standard deviation is 0.24%. The recovery is in the range of 99.4%-105.5%. It can be applied to the determination of quercetin in the hydrolysate of rutin and in the flowers of Japanese pagoda tree. The possible mechanism is also proposed.
