EFFECT OF SILICA NANOPARTICLES ON THE MIGRATION OF HUMAN SERUM ALBUMIN IN CAPILLARY ELECTROPHORESIS

The aim of this work is to detect Human Serum Albumin by capillary electrophoresis(CE) with SiO_2 nanoparticles(SNPs) as additives in basic buffer.The CE experiments are carried out in 75 μm×60 cm(the effective length is 50 cm) bare silica capillary filled with 25 mmol·L-1 borate buffer cross which is applied a voltage of 15 kV.It is found that in the absence of nanoparticles,the proteins could not be detected due to their strong adsorption onto the silica wall.However,sharp peaks are observed at around 8 min in the presence of silica nanoparticles.The peak can be quantified with 0.5 mg·L-1 in detection limit and 2.62% in relative standard deviation of migration time.The results suggest the potential usefulness of silica nanoparticles as effective additives for protein detecting.
