ON THE RUNOFF IN LAOHAHE RIVER BASIN IN THE LAST 40 YEARS

Using monthly runoff data at Hongshan reservoir dam in Laohahe river basin,and through a variety of trend analysis,the characteristics and trend of runoff in the basin was examined.The runoff in Laohahe river basin from 1961—2000 showed non-significant reduction,while from 1961—1990 showed significant decrease.Runoff from 1961—1975 was significantly higher than 1976—1990.In terms of monthly runoff,when compared with 1960s,months with reduced runoff in each decade,especially in 1980s,accounted for the majority,with July and August runoff reductions most apparent.In the 40 year period,most monthly runoff had negative trend,with April showing a strong negative trend.In the 40 year period,runoff was reduced in spring,summer and autumn.The greatest reduction was in summer,with the most significant reduction found in 1980s.Winter runoff has a slight increasing trend,summer and autumn runoff showed slight decreasing trend.The runoff in 1970s,1980s and 1990s all declined when compared with 1960s,both in flood or dry seasons.Of these,the most obvious decrease occurred in 1980s.The runoff in both flood and dry seasons showed no significant negative trend.In addition,during the 40 year period,the runoff showed non-significant jump.In spring,particularly in April,the runoff showed a significant jump in 1980.After the 1980,runoff was significantly lower than before.
