THE MEDIATING EFFECT OF INTERPERSONAL RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SPORTS AND MENTAL HEALTH

Purpose of the present study was to investigate mediating effect of interpersonal relationship on the relation between sports and mental health.Based on a sample of 3267 college students,empirical research first examined quality and character of college students' interpersonal relationship through multiple comparisons,in which students were divided into groups according to whether they engage in sports activities.This word also probed whether four aspects of interpersonal relationship-talking,communication and making friends,the way of treating people and handling business,communication with the opposite sex,have any mediating effects on mental health through sports.It was found that the way of treating people and handling business has an insignificant effect on mental health through sports.According to influence degree from great to light,the other three aspects which partially influence mental health through sports are in decreasing order: communication and making friends,communication with the opposite sex,and talking.
