Study on Modification of Loose Turquoise by Inorganics Filling and Cementation

Choosing inorganic phosphate solution,the loose turquoise samples are treated by modification through the soak—heating—insulation—cooling experiments.The best operating condition is selected by analysing the modification effect of the main facters under the different conditions.The gemmological characteristics(such as colour,transparency and hardness),stability,chemical compositions,crystal structures,porosity and technical features of the loose turquoise samples are analysed and studied in detail before and after the treatment.The results show that the colour of the treated loose turquoise sample is enhanced and the transparency and hardness are improved,with the denser structure,strengthened gloss and good durability and processing performance,which can be used as ornaments.Moreover,the gemmological characteristics,such as refractive index,fluorescence response,mineral compositions and infrared spectrum of the treated loose turquoise sample,are the same as that of the natural one,which is more like the untreated turquoise from the appearance.The treat method is the filling and cementation of inorganic matter containing phosphorus for improving the loose turquoise samples.
