On Theories and Practice of the Successful Development of the Undergraduate Major of Sports and Human Body Science

Under the background of social development and the educational reform of institutions of higher learning,this study is conducted for the purpose of making the major of sports and human body science in China actively adapted to the new requirements of talents cultivation demanded by the national economy and social development,carrying internal adjustment and educational reform positively so as to strengthen the vigor and competitive power of the major.Through a review of the establishment and the developing history of the major of sports and human body science and a research of the current development of the major,the authors have figured out a curriculum plan for the major of sports and human body science,analyzed the feedback and suggestions from the try-run of the execution of the plan and put forward further proposals for optimizing the reform of the curriculum system.With the guidance of the curriculum plan,the teaching plan(or the cultivation plan) and the curriculum structure are studied and reformed,the teaching contents and system of the core courses and fundamental courses are also studied and reformed to make them forming a curriculum system with a reasonable and scientific structure,showing prominent core and subsidiary contents and clear and different levels.Under the guidance of the "Guidelines of Curriculum Teaching",it is suggested that higher level and higher quality teaching materials for the major and the auxiliary teaching materials(such as experimental guide books,exam papers' bank and teaching reference books) which fit to the teaching materials should be compiled and produced;teaching methods and means should be improved with modern educational technology;teachers are advised to improve their academic attainments and raise students with more creative abilities;the teaching management system should be reformed to practice a complete credit system so as to enhance students' knowledge,ability and quality.
