Effect of Chinese Herbs for Invigorating the Spleen and Tonifying the Kidney on Initiation and Promotion of Multiple Step Theory of Tumor Formation

The paper reported the effect of Chinese herbs on initiation and promotion of multiple step theory of tumor formation based on the model of cell mutation test and cell mediated mutation test. The results showed that Rhizoma Atraetylodis Maeroeephalae, Decoction Taisijun, Rhizoma Curculiginis, Herba Epimedii had antimutation effects and Decoction Taisijun, Decoction Sijunzi, Fructus Lycii etc. had effect against initiation. It therefor showed that some Chinese herbs had blocking effect on the steps of initiation and promotion.
