Effects of reinforcing and reducing methods by twirling and rotating the needle on contents of NO and NOS in kidney of spontaneously hypertensive rats

Objective:To observe the different effects of reinforcing and reducing methods by twirling and rotating the needle on contents of NO and NOS in spontaneously hypertensive rats and to investigate the protective mechanism on kidney damages.Methods:Sixty 12-week old male SHR rats were divided randomly into 5 groups.They were acupuncture with reinforcing method group(group A),acupuncture with reducing method group(group B),even reinforcing-reducing method group(group C),acupuncture group(group D) and a model group(group E).12 male WKY rats were set as control group.After treating for 28 days,NO and NOS levels in kidney and adrenal gland were detected by nitrate reductase assay and chemical colorimetric method respectively.Results:After acupuncture,there was a very significant difference among the contents of NOS in renal tissue of group A,B,C,D,E and F(P0.05),and the content in group B was significantly higher than the group A,C,D,E(P0.05).Conclusion:Twirling reducing method could effectively increase the contents of NO and NOS in spontaneously hypertensive rats,leading to blood pressure reducing.There is a very significant difference between reinforcing and reducing method by twirling and rotating the needle.
