Investigation on Wear Resistance of Corrugating Rolls by Laser Cladding

A unique cladding powder material to harden corrugating rollers surface was developed to tackle the severe dry friction abrasive wear.After laser cladding with optimized parameters,a crack-free coating with thickness over 0.4mm was obtained.This coating with average hardness of 915HV0.2 has strong metallurgic bond with the substrate.The technology has been applied to industrial production,which demonstrates comprehensive advantages on cost,lifetime,technique stability and rejuvenation capability compared with present hardening technologies like intermediate frequency quenching,nitrogen hardening,chromeplate,laser transformation hardening,and tungsten carbide spraying.
