Structural Topology Optimal Design to Reduce Vibration and Noise of Thin Plate

Vibration and noise of plate can be reduced by shape modification,damping materials adoption. In this paper,vibrations of thin plates fixed at the both ends are compared under different cases:adding stiffened ribs, attaching damping materials,changing the topology of plate.The structural topology optimization method,homogenization method, is used to optimize the topology of plate considering frequency objective. Then vibro-acoustic characters of the aforementioned plates placed in the air are compared too.The computational results show the best efficiency of topology optimization method in vibration reduction and optimal placement of damping materials.The prospects of application structural topology optimization method in ship vibration and noise reduction design are also discussed.
