DEPOSITIONAL GRAVITY TECTONICS

Wang Dongpo, Wang Deqin and Chen Zongtan
Depositional gravity tectonics refers to the downslope creep of stratified semiconsolidatory sediment masses under the influence of gravity and associated with folds and thrusts in the fault basin, owing to the further subsidence of the basin axis.As this structural deformation takes place before the complete consolidation of the sediments, it has some characteristics of its own, which distinguishit from the structural deformation of gravitational tectonics or tectonic stress. The texture of depositional gravity tectonics comprises a set of slump planes, slump mass and underlying series.
