LEAD ISOTOPE STUDIES ON GOLDFIELDS, IN EASTERN, HEBEI, CHINA

There are near one hundred gold deposits and mineralizations in Jidung district and Jinchangyu is the largest one of them. Most gold deposits occur in Archaean rocks.The country rocks of Jinchangyu gold deposits the amphibolites, were determined by whole rock Pb-Pb isoehron as of 3.27 AE old. The nearby granite and the altered goldbearing vein rock were determined by K-Ar method as of 176 Ma.and 177 Ma. respectively .The isotopic compositions of galenas and pyrites from Jinchangyu and other ten gold deposits from Jidung district were made on a ther-mo-ionization mass-spectrometer type ISOMASS 54-10 and corrected to absolute volues with SRM-981 common lead standard.The lead isotopic ratios of galena and pyrite from all the gold deposits and the silicates of granite and amphibolites lie on a straight line(two stage mixing line)in a coordination of 206Pb/204Pb versus 207Pb/204Pb which gives a t1 = 3.33 AE. The p. values of amphibolites were 8.84 before metamorphism and 3.5 to 5.3 after metamorphism-remelting event which widely happened in North China at 2.5 AE.ago. The u values indicate strong depletion of uranium.The present authers assume that all of the gold mineralizations in this district were related to remobilization of North China platform in mesozoic (Yanshanian) Orogenesis and the mesozoic granites in this district were partial melting products of the uranium depleted crust.The main gold deposits in this district contain relatively higher radiogenic lead component which approaches to that in granite.In the small gold mineralizations, the isotopic compositions of lead are same to that of metamorphic rocks. This defference could be used as a criterion for gold prospecting.
