STROMATOLITES AND THEIR MINERALIZATION, GAOBANHE, XINGLONG COUNTY, HEBEI PROVINCE

Zhao Dongfu and Wei Fa
The Gaobanhe pyrite deposits occurr in the Xinglong County, Hebei Province. Itis a sinian strata-bound ore deposits. The orebodies are in layered form and lie conformably in the dolomite of Gaoyuzhuang Group. The mineralization is seen in the black shale and dolomite. The black shale is rich in organic carbon of content of 1.4%.Variously oriented samples of the stromatolitic pyrite were collected for our stu-dy. Using toluene as solvent, some insoluble organic matter was obtained from the pyrite ore with stromatolitic structure. The total hydrocarbon was extracted by toluene-alcohol or hydrogenated petrolem.According to the infrared spectroscopic analysis the composition of the Saturated hydrocarbon from the ore samples is very similar matter. It contains the matter of an-thracene-ketone.This suggests that the stromatolitic structure of pyrite ore are foltow-ing the stromatolite. There is no doubt that the organic remains ia pyfite ore existed as the"moleeular fossils".The genesis of pyrite ore of stromatolitic structure is well known. The stromato-t ic structures were formed in a long period, and made up from sedimentary stromatolite by later mineralization.
