The TurBidites of Late Pleisloeene-Holocene are found in the south central part of the trough under depth of 1000m. They are not a kind of submarine fan, but episodical longitudinal turbidites, so no submarine canyon has beetn found.There are many layers of turbidites in a 520em long core, trom site 863, whichmeans that the turbidity events were frequent.There are five sorts of sequence in the turbidites:1. Complete Bouma sequence; 2, graded silts with erosional base (a). fol-lowed by laminated silts (b), and silts with small liedding(e), and finally covered by hemipe1agic ooze (E); 3. graded silts with erosional base (a), finally covered by hemipelagic ooze (E): 4. The upper laminated silts (D), finally covered by hemipelagic ooze (E); 5. Sequence lacking hemipelagie ooze (E) ,The turbidites include three clastic constituents The majority is terrigenous Fragments, consisting matinly or quartz, feldspars, ω rroxene and lithie detritus. Most of the quartz are angular, but some rounded. However, both kinds of quartz have liquid inclusions, showing a continental derivation,The second major constituent is bioclasts, mainly of foraminifera, ealcareous algae and radiolaria, which were obviously reworked, A significant evidence is the mixture of planktonic and benthic groups and the coexistence ot deep and shallow water species.The third is volcanic debris, including vitric .and crystallinic debris.in the central trough (core 868) sedimentation rates between 24 and 50cm/1000 yr, were found, while at the site 865 some what higher rates of 100cm/1000 a. were found.The lurbidites in Okinawa Trough were produced in three periods. Thev are:l. turbidite of llolocene (Post Glacial); 2. turbidite of Late Pleistocene (the End stage of Late Wurm);3. turbidite of Lute Pleistocene (the full stage of Late wurm) .
