STUDY OF MINERALOGY OF THE METAMORPHIC PERIDOTITE IN THE TWO TYPES OF OPHIOLITE IN THE WESTERN ZHUNGEER, XINJIANG

Minerals of the metamorphic peridotite in two types of ophiolite show a common characteristic, that is, Mg/(Mg + Fe) of olivine, orthopyro xene and clinopyroxene(mineral number)increase gradual ly from lherzolite→Opx-poor harzburgite→harzburgite→dunite→chromite ore. That represents an evolutional trend of Mg-rich and Fe-poor. Cr/(Cr + Al)of chrome-spinel also increase in the rock system,which shows an evolutional feature of Cr-rich and Al-poor.The minerals is in the metamorphic peridotite are residual of partial melting of the upper mantle rocks. In the course of partial melting, olivine and chrome-spinel are genetic phase minerals, orthopyroxene and clinopyro-xene are disappear phase miner als.It is the contiunous melting of two kinds of pyroxene that makes the upper mantle rocks change from lherzolite to dunite, and cause dunite company with chromite deposits. Composotions of minerals are always change in the partial melting. Adjustment of the composition is Mg-rich and Fe-poor in the rock-forming minerals, Cr-rich and Al-poor in the metallic minerals(Cr-sp). It is consistent with the results of practical determination.
