The analysis of the depositional types and the environments of the Wangshan Formation of Sinian in Suzhou Area, Anhui Province

The Wangshan Formation of Sinian in Suzhou area, Anhui Province has been well studied because of the complicated carbonatic veins (molar-tooth structures) in the carvonatites. Besides normal carbonatites, mudstone and shales, biologic deposits, event deposits of earthquakes, storms snd tsunami as well as ancient weathering crust were recorded in the Wangshan Formation, indicating a very complicated sedimentary environment of the formation. The depositional structures in the carbonatites, including the molar-tooth structures, stylolitic structures, slump structures, cross stratification and erosive structures, have obvious indicative significance of the event deposition. The analysis of the event deposits indicates that the main cause for the events deposits and complicated sedimentary environments lies in the frequent diastrophic activities during that period.
