The equal-area method to reconstrust the original thickness of boundinage

The original thickness is often need to reconstructs the ancient environment of stratum and compute the rheological parameter. The authors makes use of pinch and swell boundinage that associated with fold. After sedimentation and compaction, the coefficient of compaction is fixed, and the mineral grain's framework is keep constant, then the stratum cubage keeps constantly. The fold generally suffers the perpendicular stratum or parallel stratum function, and the pinch and swell boundinage deformation at the direction of fold axis (axis b) is usually very small. According to the hypothesis of cubage constantly, the area of boundinage on the direction of across section (surface ac) should be equal. So the authors can reconstruct the thickness of boundinage by it. To get the area, the authors match and integral the boundary of boundinage. It just equal to few trapezoid area. The authors make use of this method to the modeling experiment and Tieshan area, and discover the results is better than the biggest thickness of the pinch and swell boundinage.
