The application of remote sensing information in the structure interpretation of the west route project of south-to-north water transfer

In the structure interpretation of west route project of south-to-north water transfer some remote sensing image processing techniques such as data source selection, band combination, image fusion, precision geometric correction, image mosaic are deliberately studied. The combination of these processing methods applied to the images is proved to be effective. The interpretation signs including hue, shape, cut stratum or rock body, physiognomy difference and water system pattern are then established according to the resultant image. The study shows that the veracity of remote sensing interpretation about faults is more than 90 percent, and the error of location is less 15 m. Remote sensing information is superior to conventional geological surveying in such aspects as broad view, abundant content, prominent main faults signs, less ground condition limits and high efficiency of field validation.
