Multi-frequency electromagnetic well logging simulation by 2-D cylindrical FDTDLIU

Assuming rotational symmetry with respect to the z-axis,Maxwell's equations for 3-D Cartesian can be transformed into two sets of partial differential equations corresponding to TE and TM waves under 2-D cylindrical coordinates. When the coils are used as both transmitters and receivers, equations with TE wave can be used. This is the case of magnetic dipole. Equations with TM wave will function when the electric dipoles are applied as transmitters and receivers. The TM set of equations can be solved using a finite difference time domain (FDTD) approximation that is second-order accurate in both space and time.
