Characteristics on ore minerals in Hongqiling CuNi sulfide deposit, Jilin Province

5 CuNi sulfide deposits are being mined in Hongqiling area, Jilin Province, China. All the five deposits are believed to be magmatic liquation type. Pyrrhotite in the Hongqiling area has three subtypes: trolite(tr), hexagonal pyrrhotite(hpo) and monoclinic pyrrhotite(mpo). They all belong to NiAs type and are relatively high in Ni+Cu+Co, being similar to the composition of pyrrhotite in mantle-derived inclusions. Pentlandite also has three mutations: high temperature crystallization, low temperature exsolution and low temperature crystallization. Analysis on the composition of the different mineral mutations by electrical probe indicates the linkage among them. The newly found gersdorffite in the deposit, as well as the typomorphic features of pyrite indicates the prevalence of replacement at the late stage of mineralization and the abundance of S and As in related hydrothermal fluids. Hence, the research on ore minerals in the Hongqiling CuNi sulphide deposit provided some important information for understanding the ore-forming and ore-control mechanism .
