The significance of crystal form typomorphism of pyrite in assessment of gold deposit

The crystal form typomorphism of pyrite is one of instructing coefficient of mineralogcial mapping in the gold deposits. The features of micro-crystal morphology of pyrite have an important significance of instructing their form conditions. In gold deposit, the crystal form of the early barren pyrite shows nearly the cube or pyritohedron, that of the major stage auriferous pyrite is of conbination crystal of ae, aeo,ao, oa, oe or of {310},{320} pyritohedron etc. The space distribution of the crystal form of pyrite is: in the upper part of orebody, pyrite is usually octahedron; in the middle, pyritohedron; in the lower, cube. The space distribution is not always the same in different gold deposits, even in different veins of one single gold deposit. Detailed research should be carried out when applying the model of the space distribution to predict the blind ore bodies at depth.
