Study of Faulted Structure Using the Normalized Full Gradient ofGravity Anomaly and Its Phase

The normalized full gradient and phase of gravity anomalies have been studied by potential field conversion and fast Fourier transform in wave-number domain. Smoothing filter factors are introduced respectively in downward continuation and derivative computation of potential field, these factors can restrain the amplification effect on noise and increase the stability of calculation. Using the modified method, we have calculated and discussed variation characteristics of the normalized full gradient of gravity anomaly contours and phase curve about four types of faulted structures. At the same time, we indicated the inadaptability of maximal value theory of the full gradient of gravity in researching faulted structure. We can also determine the location of boundless outstretched faulted structures according to the trend and shape of G~(H) field contours combined with the turning points on gravity phase curves.
