Petrological Characteristics and Tectonic Implications of the Tahe Gabbro in the Northern Part of the Great Xing’an Range

The Tahe gabbro is the most representative one in the Tahe area, Northern of Great Xing’an Range. The pluton contains olive gabbro, tint olive gabbro, tint gabbro (plagioclase rock), troctolite and gabbro, with olive gabbro and troctolite predominating. The major petrogenetic minerals in the Tahe gabbro include plagioclase, olive, clinopyroxene and hornblende, coronitic-texture and poikilitic texture are obviously visible. Based on electron microprobing analysis (EMPA), olivine of the Tahe gabbro belongs chrysolite with high Fo(77), clinopyroxene to diopside and plagioclase is of bytownite of (An85). Petrological characteristics show that the Tahe gabbro is a cumulate gabbro pluton. According to the diagrams of AnFo and Al_ZTiO_2, the Tahe gabbro is suggested to be I-type cumulate gabbro and to be generated at an active continental margin or an island arc. Its formation may be related to the subduction of plates and and to the metasomatic alteration of fluids resulted during the closure of the Paleoasian ocean. The Tahe gabbro should be an important lithological record of the Paleoasian ocean closure.
