This study was undertaken to evaluate the inhibitory effect of Chinese fir wood meals and the extracts to the growth of Phaeocystis Lagerheim. The results showed that the inhibitory rate of 0.05 g fir wood meals(added to 30 mL algal culture)on Phaeocystis Lagerheim reached 68% in 3 days when the cell density was 82×104 cell/mL.The inhibitory rate of the extracts to Phaeocystis Lagerheim was above 80.5% in 3 days. And the inhibitory effect was a little reduced after extract from fresh tissue was autoclaved for 20 minutes at 121℃.These results showed that the fir wood meals and extracts effected the growth of Phaeocystis Lagerheim. It might be a potential candidate for HAB control.
