COMPOSITION AND MAIN CHARACTERISTICS OFEARLY PROTEROZOIC METAMORPHIC TERRANES IN EASTERN LIAONING AND SOUTHERN JILIN AREAS

There are two different metamorphic terranes in eastern Liaoning and southern Jilin areas, i.e.Liaobei terrane and Liaonan terrane. The contact between the two metamorphic terranes is characterized by faults or ductile shear zones. Liaobei terrane includes Beiliaohe group and Liaoling group and Liaonan terrane is composed of Nanliaohe group and Ji’an group. obvious differences exist between the early Proterozoic metamorphic rock series of the two metamorphic terranes, e.g. the meta stratigraphic systems, the metamorphic rock associations, the primary rock formations and their sedimendary environments, the types and pTt paths of metamorphism, origional structures and magmatic activations. It is clear that they were formed at different conditions and with diferent evolutional histories. The above evidences indicate that they were formed on different continental margins in the early Proterozoic. It is concluded that the two terranes were combined in late Early Proterozoic.
