Application of 2-D wavelet analysis on image compression

The theory of 2-D wavelet and its decomposition and reconstruction algorithms is discussed. The conclusion is made from the comparison of two algorithms by using Matlab .The result shows that the method of keeping low frequency compression of information in primitive image is a simple compression method, through which better compression effects can be made without other treatments. Appling wavelet tree to make image compress, usually with the given wavelet primary function, the larger the threshold value is, the more the number of coefficient being zero will be, also the compressing ratio of reconstruction image file is higher with the increasing infidelity degree.
