License Plate Location Algorithm Based on Top-Hat Preprocessing and Wavelet Energy Analysis

A new license location algorithm based on mathematical morphology and wavelet transform was provided to solve the problem of inaccuracy.Firstly,the interference of background was deduced by using Top-Hat transform.Then,the signal of binary picture projection was analyzed by wavelet transform.The location accuracy and real-time had been increased by reducing the search field with license position information.By this algrithm,the mean time of location is 0.125 s,the emulative experiment results demonstrated that the method has better location accuracy and robustness.
