Study on Skopostheory of Translation

LI You
Skopostheory is the most representative translation theory in Germany as well as one of the most influential translation theories in the world. It takes skopos as the starting point and foundation of translation process,in which translation strategies, translation methods, selection of form and contents of the original, and the production of the target text are based on its specific skopos. In this framework, translation is guided by purpose and assessed by coherence rule and fidelity rule, which shed lights on translation studies. This paper presents an introduction and assessment of skopostheory in translation with the aim that readers could have a more subjective comprehension of the theory
