THE BOUNDARY ELEMENT METHOD OF THE 3-D TOPOGRAPHIC CORRECTION FOR THE RESISTIVITY METHOD IN THE POINT SOURCE FIELD

The Boundary Element Method (BEM) is a new numerical computingmethod. Because the BEM can reduce space dimension of numericalmodelling, using the method we have solved the potential field problem ofthe 3_D topography solved very hard by the domain type solution such asfinite elements and finite differences. In this paper, we have discussed basic principles of the BEM and havecomputed ρ_S/ρ_1 values of the combined electrical profiling on the 3_Dtopography and have corrected the effect of topography for ρs values of theconductive ellipsoid embedded under the ground. The corrected ρs curvemakes the ore anomalies much more distinctive. Thus the data handled byBEM help to increase prospecting effect of the resistivity method in thearea of 3_D topography.
