CHARACTERISTICS AND GEOLOGICAL SIGNIFICANCE OF TAIANSI GANGOU CANGPING FAULT IN THE MIDDLE AND SOUTHERN SECTOR OF LONGMEN MOUNTAINS,SICHUAN

This paper describes in detail the structural characteristics of the Taiansi Gangou Cangping fault macroscopically and microscopically, and distinguishes the fault is the main slip (decollement) plane in the middle and southern sector of the frontal nappe belt in Longmen Mountains. The research show that the formation of the fault is earlier than these klippen, but it is also a revived reverse fault after the klippen took themselves places from relationship between the fault and klippen, and the ESR age determination. The main active period of the fault is early Himalayan period . Then, the fault is remade in middle and late Himalayan period , showing the characteristics of brittle thrust in many times.
