RESEARCH THINKING OF HIGH-RESOLUTION SEQUENCE STRATIGRAPHY ABOUT A TERRIGENOUS BASIN

The sequence analysis of a terrigenous oil gas bearing basin is one of the important courses to which geologists have paid extra attention. In this paper, proceeding from the practice questions which are faced within the sequence analysis of the Meso Cenozoic terrigenous oil gas bearing basins that have spreadly developed in the centre, east and west of China, the authors consider that in the different theoretical systems of sequence stratigraphy, the theory of high resolution sequence stratigraphy which was advanced by Timoty A. Cross is more fit for the sequence research of the Meso Cenozoic terrigenous oil gas bearing basins of China . Taking the cropping, drilling, well logging and seismic data as the main analytic targets, the authors briefly discuss the synthetical research thinking and the technological process of the high resolution sequence stratigraphy applied to the terrigenous oil gas bearing basin.
