THE POSSIBILITY OF REBUILDING PALEOGEOMORPHOLOGY BEFORE BASIN DEPOSITION BY HIGH RESOLUTION SEQUENCE STRATIGRAPHY

Paleogeomorphology is the main factor to control the late deposition in a basin. High resolution sequence stratigraphy is to research the relationship between base level cycle sedimentary strata sequence and basin deposition kinetics based upon the theory of the changing of base level cycle and accommodation. It can improve the isochroneity and accuracy during strata contrasting. According the theory, it is possible to rebuilding basin paleogeomorphology before deposition by high resolution sequence stratigraphy. The way of rebuilding the original geomorphology in one basin by high resolution sequence stratigraphy is founded on the sedimentary facies analysis, taking the largest trasgression as the reference level, and utilizing high resolution sequence strata contrasting to complete original paleogeomorphology. The paper details the method and procedure of rebuilding pleogeomorphology of a single sedimentary system and complex system and points out the attention problem.
